Become and its 2023-2024 projects

  • In this Back-to-School Season, the New Pathways Foundation and its BECOME Initiative are pleased to introduce some projects for the upcoming year. Projects specifically designed for First Nations youth to support them on the path to their future.

Workplace Exploration Internships: New Career Pathways

This year, we have a surprise for you! Our workplace exploration internships will take place simultaneously, offering an immersive experience not to be missed. This change allows schools to plan one trip per session. Here is an overview of the areas available to our youth:

  • Health: Join CERVO, CIRRIS, and Laval University for an exciting dive into the fields of occupational therapy, physiotherapy, neuroscience, and mental health.
  • Public Safety: Embark on the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) boat, hear inspiring stories from the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM), and engage in a series of exciting activities related to public safety careers.
  • Environment: Explore the water cycle from source to sewer with Mamit Innuat and other passionate experts.

Accommodation, transportation, and allowances are provided by the New Pathways Foundation.

We also have good news for our English-speaking friends: exclusive English-language internships are planned for 2024. Stay tuned for more details coming very soon!

BECOME Workshops

For our teachers, guidance counselors, and youth workers, we are delighted to introduce our BECOME workshops. Designed for First Nations youth, these turnkey workshops are intended to guide high school students in exploring professions and fields of interest to support them in their post-secondary educational journey.

Our workshops are culturally safe and ready to be deployed. If you wish to offer these workshops to your students, know that we are here to support you every step of the way.

First Nations Zone: Cultivating Connections and Inspirations

The First Nations Zone is where secondary level students (grades 3-4-5) from First Nations meet the world of work. Our youth will have the opportunity to interact with adult mentors, sharing their stories and advice on both a professional and personal level, in a safe and caring environment.

We are excited to embark on this new adventure with you and look forward to a year filled with inspiration, learning, and shared successes. Stay connected for all upcoming updates!
