Niska stands out as an initiative focused on the holistic well-being of Indigenous youth, highlighting the importance of physical activity, self-confidence, and personal growth. By integrating cultural and educational elements, Niska encourages young people to adopt a healthy and balanced lifestyle. At the heart of this initiative, the “Fox Challenge” offers a non-timed race, designed by and for Indigenous Peoples, which goes far beyond mere physical activity. This challenge embodies our commitment to creating meaningful events, strengthening community bonds while celebrating culture and personal development.

The Fox Challenge is a turnkey project designed to be easily implemented in First Nations communities by local organizers. This unifying event encourages youth to get moving and improve their well-being in a fun and motivating setting.
The primary goal is to “become foxes” by completing a 2 km distance. Once this challenge is met, new paths open up for participants: they can transform into a salmon, a porcupine, a hare, a beaver, and even an eagle as they complete increasingly greater distances
Be ready!
Since its beginning in 2019, the Fox Challenge has been launched in 11 communities, illustrating its success and growth over the years.
On the Fox’s Trail” is a large-format board game designed for elementary school students. Displayed in the classroom, the game board encourages students to complete concrete actions related to health, helping them progress together. Along the way, students will encounter various rewards and challenges that prepare them to achieve a final goal chosen by the class, linked to healthy lifestyle habits.
We suggest a 2 km Fox Race as the goal, where each participant receives a medal in recognition of their efforts. However, each teacher is free to adapt this goal based on the needs and interests of their students.
Be ready!
